Update!

I am so behind on this! I am sorry :( It was a long summer! Ava's surgery was very successful and she is growing like a weed! She will 9 months old on Oct 7 and she is already up to 19 pounds. She is a little daredevil and will try to climb anything her little feet can get on. She started sitting at 5 months, cut her first teeth on Father's day, she started crawling around 6 months and then she started pulling up on EVERYTHING in site! We can't stop her!!! We have her next surgery scheduled for Dec 2.

Chloe is enjoying the first grade and she's reading like a champ! I can't believe how fast she has caught on! She loves her teacher and enjoys going to school! She is getting so big! I can't believe she's 6 already!

Ava's Surgery

So we had our visit at Children's and Ava will have her first surgery on May 6 at 6 am. They will place tubes in her ears, repair her lip, and repair her nose. Grant the tubes will be placed then unless she has another ear infections before then. If she has another ear infection between now and then they will do the tubes before then.
Ava has been doing great! She was 7lb 13oz as of 2/14! So she is gaining weight even though she has had some type of infection this week. We should know exactly what is going on with her this week some time.
We go for our first round of shots this week too! So she is going to have a rough week :(

She has been through so much in just the 5 and half weeks she has been here and she has much more to go through. Just keep praying for her!!
Love,
April

Ava Rose is Here!

Well after 36 weeks and 4 days of pregnancy Ava Rose decided to grace us with her presence! It was a long few days for us as we waited her arrival. To start it off we started having contractions on Sat night and ended up at labor and delivery only to be sent home. On Monday I had my doctors appointment and the good news was I was dilated to 1cm and my cervix was thinned 40%! This was great news! So on Tuesday I had horrible contractions all day long, but they would never get regular. Poor Chloe was great, she offered to call the doctor and tell him I was in Labor! But we waited it out and I went to bed only to wake at 3:30 with the worse contractions and they were 4 mins apart. So we called the doctor and went to labor and delivery. We got there at 5:30 and I was checked at 6 only to be told I was still at 1 and 40%. I just knew they were sending me home. I got to stay because my contractions were regular. So the doctor gets there at 8 and checks me and I am 3cm and 60%! He says We are having a baby today! Those were the greatest words ever!!

So he came back and broke my water like 45 min later. After that I went through alot of HORRIBLE contractions before getting my epidural. Once I got my epidural I was able to relax :) Ava's heart rate kept dropping if I was in certain positions so they were concerned about her and she had to get an internal monitor on her scalp. But as long as I stayed on my side she was fine. From the time I got my epidural to the time I started pushing was about 4 hours. So my labor went quickly, which I was very thankful for! I started pushing at 3 for pratice and we started the real thing at 3:30. She was here at 3:45! She had the cord wrapped around her neck 2 times so that is the reason her heart beat kept dropping.

She was 5lbs 14oz and 19 1/2 inches long! She is a wonderful baby and We are all so in love with her! Chloe is soooooo happy to be a big sister and she's going to be very protective!!
